Favorite band/musician you always come back to?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-12 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Or what song has been your favorite for the longest time?

Re: Favorite band/musician you always come back to?

(Anonymous) 2023-10-12 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm currently revisiting Steam Powered Giraffe after thinking about their song Honeybee and had found out that they had released more albums after Vice Quadrant when I had lost track of their music.
But the bands I tend to come back to are Evanescence, Linkin Park and Placebo. Mostly out of my emo/spooky kid era that just never went away and have just been listening to their music since the 2000s.

Uhh, probably the classic bands I grew up listening to. Like Metallica and Pink Floyd. Every couple years I want to listen to the Black Album or The Wall on repeat for a few days.

Something about Pink Floyd’s music just speaks to my soul. When I’m ready to fully engage with those emotions, it’s the most powerful music I can listen to.

The Brilliant Green is my comfort music. No specific song, though I am partial to their first album as it's the one my friend bought me when he was an exchange student in Japan.

To name a few musical horrors:
Sweeney Todd, Anna and the Apocalypse, Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Also, not quite a recommendation - but I found a list of comedy horror movies on wikipedia and have decided to go on an adventure to find the worst ones through titles and brief descriptions alone this halloween: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_comedy_horror_films

Assault of the Killer Bimbos, Dr. Caligari (which is suppose to be an 'erotic' sequel to The Cabinet of Dr Caligari), I bought a Vampire Motorcycle and Evil Toons seem like good contenders so far :D

Over the Garden Wall

It’s quite low-level spooky and not horror at all, but IMHO a lovely seasonal show.

I have to figure out the best way to rewatch it, but I’ll definitely be revisiting it before Halloween.

I feel like I've thought more about Blood and Honey (the Winnie the Pooh slasher movie) than anyone else on earth and even though I DON'T recommend it (it's not... good) I wish I had more people to talk about it with. The world that must exist outside of/underneath this boring slasher is *wild*.

What fandom would you like to see secrets for?

What under-represented fandom would you like to see secrets for? Are there any that you’ve never seen mentioned here?

Please add +1 comments to any responses you’re interested in!

Maybe we can encourage some new fandom secrets to make their way from idle thought to actual submission.

M*A*S*H

I’ve been thinking about it quite a lot lately after doing a partial rewatch. I’d love to see some secrets, thought I’m not sure I have any myself.

I'm always up for Star Trek:TNG secrets!

And even though I rarely know what's being discussed, I rather enjoy seeing secrets for older and/or more obscure fandoms. I had no idea the UK had so many weird TV shows, for example...

Vent Thread

(Anonymous) 2023-10-12 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got a rant, if anyone else has one, feel free to add.

I ordered a locket with a picture of my dad from Amazon. Paid for the faster shipping. First it was delayed past when it was supposed to be there. I was then told it would be here by today. Now they are saying it was delivered, only nothing. And the tracking is saying delivered in Cooperstown, which is not where I live, I have no idea where that is.

Just so frustrated with the whole thing. I am being refunded. But I really wanted that locket, and there is a locket somewhere out there with my dad's picture in it.

Bullying, again

(Anonymous) 2023-10-12 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
So, I hate bullies. If I see an adult bullying someone in real life, verbally or physically, or see someone acting like a bully in a direct response to someone's comment online, I instantly lose respect for them. It honestly really makes me angry.

It also makes me angry when people are mean or try to justify being mean to their sexual/romantic partners just for the sake of being mean (I am NOT including consensual kink stuff here). Like people who smash their bride or groom's face into wedding cake, when the person didn't consent to it or outright said they didn't want to do that. Or people who have to degrade their sexual partners for being 'easy' or whatever (again, non-consensually only). Like, you got something you wanted from them, and now you want to punish them for that?

But, weirdly enough when I'm attracted to someone, I like seeing people being mean about them while talking ABOUT them. I used to go to ONTD when I was attracted to a celebrity and read threads about them, not just to learn about them, but also because I liked reading all the comments shit talking them. Recently, I found something that's kind of borderline - there's a guy on Instagram, who is pretty hot and his reels would sometimes come up while I was mindlessly scrolling. And he gets a lot of hate in the comments. Some of it is funny, some of it is lame, but it's very much like reading those celebrity gossip threads except that people are actually posting it directly on his reels. So I like watching his videos because he's attractive, but I also like reading the entire peanut gallery's generally stupid collective output afterward.

This is weird. Why does this this appeal to me?

Weirdest tag I've seen in a while

I saw someone in ao3 tagging their fic with "Christian writer". It is such a bizarre thing to tag.
