I usually don’t feed trolls but have nowhere to share this and will only do it Anon:

My regressive spouse was whining about Hogwarts Legacy having a trans character and having “all this woke stuff shoved down my throat.” I pointed out nothing was being shoved down anyone’s throat, inclusion is about it being for more than just straight white dudes and sometimes straight white women with a single token black character for every POC of every race and gender to identify with.

We rarely talk about issues like that because we started in the midsole and then went to opposite ends of the spectrum over the years. We’re both ashamed of each other’s social views and combined with some other ways we’ve grown apart, I honestly think we’ll end up divorced within the next few years. And I’m kinda looking forward to it because I honestly hate people who want all western media to go back to just being about straight white people.

Rather ballsy of you to defend the anti-Semitic blood libel TERF game that has literally killed people. /s

Hahaha yeah I get it. And even if you weren’t joking I had meant to say we just got the game used a couple weeks ago. I was against giving JKR money on principle but knew that would start a shitstorm at home. Instead I pointed out the low replay value and said it made more sense to snag it used for $25-30 instead of buying it for $70 a few days after release. Luckily that worked because obviously my spouse lacks critical thinking skills.

Genuine question but... why are you still married to this person? Like you don't sound like you have the most basic things in common nor like you have any respect for each other.

Sounds like this is a recent development + divorce is hard.

AYRT

Because I can’t afford to just yet. I started to go through it two years ago and found myself without any support. I’d have to give up my pets and enter into an 18-36 month waiting period for housing assistance.
Or I could put up with him for a few more years while I build individual credit and bolster my skills so that I’m not destitute when we divorce. And, morbid as it sounds, our first dog will likely pass away during that time solving the emotional and logistical issues of pet custody. That pet is our child and it would be cruel for either of us to keep him away from the other, both cruel to each other and our dog. Our other pets aren’t so complicated emotionally or otherwise. Oh and our first dog is special needs and if we’d divorced already, neither of us could have afforded the lifesaving treatment he needed last December, which would have made the heartbreak in my family so much worse.

I hope your first dog has a painless and dignified death while you're getting your shit together, and that once you are ready, the divorce process is swift and inexpensive. (Someone close to me made some hard decisions about relationships, and pet custody was definitely one of the problems. I'm going to reiterate what Captain Awkward said: never do shared pet custody. It's hard for everybody and keeps re-opening the wounds.)

Yikes. Your spouse sounds like a real asshat. Good luck with the future divorce, and honestly, don't wait unless you have to. Toxicity like that tends to poison the good parts of your life and the sooner you're rid of it, the better.

Good luck with a divorce, anon! Frankly I think you should start this process and plan your way out etc. You spouse seems like not a good match, don't waste your time it's precious.
