I will never understand why Warner Bros is engaged in such wanton acts of self harm, cancelling already made movies and instead pushing flops which just lose money. It is like they want to fail.

Because the movithat got cancelled were movies where WB believed that it could make more money (or at least lose a lot less money) with the tax write-off than they were ever likely to make with a theatrical release. Also, most likely the movies that got cancelled were genuinely dreadful movies, so bad that they would have harmed WB's brand even more than the flops and ruined the careers of the people who worked on them or appeared in them.

The flops may not have done well financially, but from all reports they were pretty decent movies. Just not movies that the general public wanted to pay theater prices to see.
