I've said for years that ppl should stop looking to celebrities/authors/content creators for statements or guidance concerning political or RL issues. And that pressuring them for statements can absolutely backfire.
The current middle east situation again proved my point. People were outraged if famous person X didnt post a statement asap. Then Person X put out a statement that didnt meet fandom requirements, oh look witch hunt.
Fandom never learns.
(Replace Middle East crisis with Covid or any other large scale world changing happening). Fandom isnt activism. and "following the righr people" isn't either.
