One of the writers said it was canon? Thats news to me. I remember them being very supportive if the idea and loving the subtext but never saying it was canon. But its been awhile since I've been involved in that fandom at all so I may be misremembering.

Either way it is a fun show, sorry you were set up for disappointment. The sequal/continuation show is even better imo.

While I understand a distaste for people who try to bring anime tropes into real life, I don't understand how any of these pictured things are any less realistic than uh... all the rest of animated media...

I kind of understand where you're coming from because I've seen quite a lot of men that act as if this is what real life women should be aspiring to, but this is also clearly fantasy and it's more of an issue with how each person interprets it.

Why is it the only thing that people want, but will punish someone for giving it to them?

If a homeless person asks you for money, and you give them money, you lose a little bit of money. And you chose to give it to someone. But the homeless person will usually thank you instead of turning around and yelling, HAHA SUCKER I GOT A DOLLAR AND YOU LOST ONE!!!

Same if you give someone a gift that you chose to spend money on. Or you put time and money into helping someone. They don't laugh at you and argue that you deserve to be abused because you willingly gave up money or time and energy.

But if someone wants sex, and they get it, that's a valid reason to mistreat the person they had sex with for being 'easy' or whatever. Like, if the person you have sex with didn't want a relationship, and used birth control to avoid pregnancy and STIs, they didn't 'lose' anything... but you can decide to start treating them badly to MAKE it into a loss for them, and argue that they deserve the bad treatment because they chose to have sex.

And before someone starts with the 'make better choices,' 'haha you're just mad you got taken advantage of, take accountability' I'm literally a virgin. I'm going off what I see.

I'm liking it. Its not groundbreaking in any way but if you are a fan of period pieces its rather entertaining I think. The outfits and settings are gorgeous.

With the exception of "Don't Bully Me" anime there (since it's about highschoolers), I can kinda see where OP is coming from. It would be nice to have some anime that has grown men dating... grown-looking women, instead of "She looks like a child and acts like a child, but she's legal, so it's fine!"

Imagine the flipside - a grown-looking woman and her daily romantic shenanigans with a guy who looks and acts like he belongs in fifth grade, but it's fine, he's in his early twenties!

And I know the automatic response is "But there are women who do look and act like that!" Yeah, there are, but it's really just feeling repetitive. Kind of like having a million Isekai variations every month.
