This. Whenever someone complains about this trope I wonder what perfect alternate universe they're living in where it's normal and easy to just "come out and say something," especially since in the situations being complained about, the "something" has the chance to make the other person mad or ruin their relationship, which is why they don't want to say it to begin with; that's the point.
