Re: What silly tropes drive you crazy?

I get that it's to show that we're at our most vulnerable when sleeping and it's one of our worst fears that something might be messing with us as we sleep but it's SO overdone at this point.

Also, I suffer from full blown sleep paralysis hallucinations so a sheet moving is nothing compared to what my own brain (and body) often does to me.

Hugs for you. I have regular hypnopompic hallucinations which I know are nowhere near as rough as full on sleep paralysis. But they can get incredibly vivid and lifelike to the point I've leapt/rolled out of bed panicking because in that moment, even if it makes no logical sense, there is absolutely something awful crawling on my pillow two inches from my face and I need to get tf away from it, or someone standing outside the window, or the bed's on fire, etc.

I’m sorry, the hallucinations alone are pretty bad so that’s not an easy thing to go through! The paralysis just means I have to try recognise I’m dreaming and snap myself awake so I can move again and everything I can “see” will disappear or stop touching me. Usually means my heartbeat has spiked and my breathing apparently goes weird so getting back to sleep is tricky!
