it's probably less discarded ideas and more avoiding brand confusion and/or being able to put out monetizable content with less effort. if you're a youtube channel that wants sponsors, you need a quantifiable audience, and having a quantifiable audience requires a certain standardization of content. also podcasting is simply less time-consuming, and if you don't want to do a lot of editing and set up you don't have to (you should though lmao).
