Re: Anime - nay or yay?

Anime is a medium not a genre and all that, so if one looked hard enough they'd probably find some they liked, no matter how much they "weren't into anime", but I get what people mean when they say that, because it does broadly have conventions that it follows and if you're not into those it can be kind of painful to watch 90% of shows.

Another thing I find people overlook is that most anime, like most cartoons, are for kids, eh? If you don't like to watch kids' shows in your own country, why do you think an anime based on a manga with a target audience of elementary and middle school boys (like almost all shounen) would appeal to you? If you're 30+ and "don't like anime anymore" by which you mean don't like shows aimed at teens now that you're no longer a teen that's not exactly surprising.

I'm 90% "nay" to anime these days but Mushishi remains one of my favourite pieces of media of all time, and I'm loving Sousou no Frieren.
