there was another secret about wanting to have fandom getaway and i'll say the same thing here as there: if you're on an unmoderated or lightly moderated space what the space is for is highly dependent on what the crowd wants it to be for and if that thing is not what you want...what you want is not what the space is for.

i think your desires are neutral, privilege or no. i understand why you would be upset. but the truth is that your desires have to fight for space alongside everyone else's and if yours lose philosophically...they lose, and you don't get to pretend yours are worth more or more worthy of being philosophically ascendant in a space.

find a space that moderates to your taste or make a space that moderates to your taste. those are really your options.

Why do you assume that the space has become for politics rather than it being the case that a few outliers are posting stuff about politics, and annoying everyone else in the space?

hmm, where did i make this assumption?

You're advising OP based off of the assumption that what they don't want (politics) is actually what the space is for. The opposite assumption, that what OP wants (politics-free fandom space) is actually what the space is for, would lead to different advice.

No, that's the assumption you made about what i'm saying. i'm talking about how a space defines itself, and that is by the type of regulation of its members. if the space op is in has no mechanism to stop certain subjects, whatever they are, by definition those subjects are allowed and the space's purpose isn't for disallowing them. it could annoy many many people! but as long as another person can do something that annoys you, the space is the type of space that allows that annoyance.
