Re: Fandom Inspired/Fandom-related books
(Anonymous) 2024-02-14 03:23 am (UTC)(link)I recently read I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman. There are two narrators and one’s a girl in bandom and the other’s a guy in the band. I liked the beginning because the female MC really felt like someone I could’ve been friends with since I was in bandom too, but it got way more serious than I was expecting and the way everything played out in the end kinda left a sour taste in my mouth.
If you’re okay with manga, Tamon’s B-Side by Yuki Shiwasu has a similar premise, but it’s way less serious and has a cringey humor that doesn’t work for everyone (I personally think it’s funny, but none of my friends do).
I read it a while ago, but I remember liking Shipped by Meredith Tate. It’s about a guy and a girl who are enemies IRL, but they’re online fans of each other’s sci-fi fanart/fic and plan to meet at a con without knowing each other’s real identities.
