Advice
(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 03:33 am (UTC)(link)I have a general admission standing floor ticket and I’m wondering how soon I need to get to the venue in advance for a good spot, but I also have bladder incontinence. I’m already planning on avoiding things that upset my stomach the whole day/day before, but was wondering what general advice you’d have.
And what’s some tips you wish you’d had at your first concert?
Re: Advice
(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 03:45 am (UTC)(link)For the incontinence, something like depends is a great idea. I have the Amazon Basics version and they’ve saved me twice in crowds where getting to the bathroom quickly isn’t an option. I intentionally dehydrate myself if I’m going to be out for more than four hours or so, or if I’m in a crowded environment where it’s practically guaranteed the line for the bathroom will be measured in 10 minute intervals.
Everyone is different so this may not work for you, but drinking bottled or canned soda helps me. I’ll be thirsty because of intentionally dehydrating myself, and the dehydrating properties of soda have a stronger impact on me than the diuretic effect of caffeine. Fountain soda goes right through me though :(
Have fun and sing loud and make friends!

(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 07:16 am (UTC)(link)I am not sure about dehydration though depending on a health. Getting faint in the crowd is a bad bad combination.

(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 07:26 am (UTC)(link)Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes. You’ll be standing and there will be a lot of people close by, it’s easy pretty easy for feet to get stepped on.
You might want to bring hearing protection, even just the little foam ear plugs. There is a lot of noise at concerts - crowds and feedback can be really loud. If you find you don’t need them, that’s fine, but if you do, you have them. I couldn’t hear right for three days after the indoor concert.
It’s really annoying to have to keep track of a purse or a bag, so consider wearing an outfit with lots of pockets to fit most of what you need to bring with you.
Maybe look at a map of the venue before you go and figure out where the nearest bathrooms are to where you’re going to be. Then look at the next nearest and the next (if you’re near a main entrance, there could easily be lines).

(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 07:30 am (UTC)(link)I loved concerts (not so much now) but I couldn't get through them without ear plugs. They clean out a lot of feedback so you will much greater sound!
Re: Advice
(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 07:27 am (UTC)(link)Avoid mosh pits. But I don't think at P!nk it should be a problem. Don't be afraid to miss things. If you will have fun it wouldn't be your last concert.
Sides of the stage are calmer and have a great view. But be aware of speakers/sound systems. You really don't want to be near one
Re: Advice
(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)I tend to walk around the area, arriving pretty early. I go to shops and get a drink or snack so I can use restrooms. IIRC for concerts I didn't want to stand in super long lines, I'd show up about 15 minutes after general access doors open for seating. That way you'll miss most of the long lines.
*Try to see if you can find maps to show where restrooms are so they will be easier to find! I go through phases where I just need to pee a lot and knowing where restrooms are help me find them faster, and give me an idea if I have options to find another restroom if the queue is long in one area.
Also, I'd use the restroom as soon as I arrive, and then go to general floor access and try to find a good spot.
*Wear comfortable shoes that give you a little height unless you're on the taller side, then just wear comfortable shoes
*A small backpack is best option because you can carry it on your back or your front for more optimal space for you and other patrons depending on where you're standing! Over shoulder bags always hurt my shoulder and feel too small or too bulky
*Take pictures!!! I always regret not taking enough pictures. I'm not good at taking pictures and I generally want to be enjoying the music more than taking pictures or shooting a short video clip. But when I look back at my concerts I tend to regret not having taken more pictures
Re: Advice
(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)This is highly subjective. I am not a picture taking kind of person at all. I almost never take pictures at special occasions/events, and I never regret it. I'll go to events with friends/family and see how often they're taking pictures and it seems like they miss a lot...if anything I feel like I would regret it if I did take pictures. Not worrying about taking pictures allows me to focus 100% on what's happening at that moment, and I've never once thought about a past event and thought "I wish I had pictures". I have pictures of events from several years ago before I realized it was (IMO) pointless, and it honestly never occurs to me to look at them.
Maybe OP is the type of person who loves pictures so maybe this advice is good for them, but I just wanted to put a different perspective out there...not everyone would regret not taking pictures.

(Anonymous) 2024-02-18 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)re: disposable underwear - I hadn’t thought of that! I’ll have to take a look into brands
re: footwear - I’m already planning on wearing sneakers. I’m tall (5’7”) so I have no doubt I’ll be able to see the stage
re: ear plugs - never thought of that! I do have sensitive hearing so I’ll have to buy some.
now, I have the ability to upgrade my ticket from rear GenAd to front, but I was reading a post by a Swiftie who said they weren’t regulating seats at the Taylor concerts. do I chance it and not or do I pay $20 extra and trade my rear genad?
