OKAY
is the one word that throws me straight out of any novel/fic with a historical/fantasy setting and at worst makes me backbutton instantly.
It's just so jarring and out of place and could easily be replaced with something else (like alright or similar).
I know it's a weird hill to die on but it is what it is.

See, "alright" would throw me out of a story because my brain refuses to process it as one word.
