I wouldn't hold my breath.

Right? I think the monarchy would rather die off/out than grovel to H&M to come back and I'd bet H&M would tell them to get bent if they did. I don't see how OPs scenario would work out, but then again, this shit is pretty crazy so who tf knows for certain.

The British Monarchy has been little more than a glorified Reality TV Show for decades now. Dragging out the "William VS Harry" drama for as long as they possibly can is, at this point, literally the only way they can hope to stay interesting.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-18 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It was genuinely shocking to me when the palace tried to blame Kate's absence from the media on Harry and Meghan.

They will never ever change.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-18 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"due to X, Y, and Z, the British monarchy has proven it needs to be ignored." there, fixed it.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-18 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
They really don't "need" them.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-18 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No its ok, we don't want the royal family sponging off our country any more. You Americans can Keep Harry and Megan - have your own royal family for funsies.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, so if Harry and Meghan stay in the US, you guys are going to toss out the rest of the Royals on your own? Go on, then.

No one does

I hate her and how Harry has behaved since marrying her. Most people don't like her/them as a couple and don't want them back after how they behaved and things they said about the Queen and other royals they do like.
Except you're not allowed to hate her because ~racism and look at the "terribly white" family.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-18 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Do younger people even like Harry and Meghan? I know pretty much everyone over 40 doesn’t and just realised I kinda assumed the younger crowd doesn’t, either.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm barely under forty and I would say I have a semi-favorable view of them? Or... Meghan has my sympathy in that she was once an ordinary person and she's dealt with some insane shit that she doesn't deserve (I don't think I've actually seen her in anything to have an opinion of her as an actress). I don't think much of Harry but at least he stood by his wife and chose protecting her and their kids over all the royal shit.

But then, I hate the royal family, so anyone breaking from them would get my vote as being less awful.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like them but I hate their haters.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Like's a strong word, but they're slightly less awful than the ones that didn't flee the country.

I think that insofar as people think about them at all, there's sympathy for Meghan because of the perceived bullying from the British media and racism. But honestly, I doubt young people have much to do with the British Royals in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
British royalty should dissappear

They have other cards to play: namely Lady Louise. The youngest granddaughter of the late queen with a startling resemblance to her has a certain romance to it. Plus she seems to come from the only happy family in the clan. They put her front and center as a working royal, let people see her as her grandmother-redux - hardworking, not outspoken, pretty-but-not-overly-so, maybe something to wonder about in terms of her romantic prospects, etc. No skeletons in her closet and a "normal people" kind of cred. It could work as a stop-gap measure until George and Charlotte are old enough to take over as the more glamorous face of the establishment.

I'm just kind of sitting here, entirely flabbergasted by how ANYONE in the world could possibly find the frankly incredibly mid, uninteresting lives of people who are pretty much just relics of the past leeching actual resources that could be better spent on just about anything else interesting in any way, shape or form.

The world is a curious place.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
IDK how it's "curiously being absent" if she's recovering from a surgery. They haven't told, so who knows what kind of a surgery and for what it was. If William's more focused to staying with is family now that Kate is sick, more power to him.

Princess Anne's daughter is literally an internationally recognised glamorous sportswoman, married to an internationally recognised sportsman. They are the back up couple. Eugenie and Beatrice are reasonably well regarded, their dad's shame hasn't rubbed off on them, too if need be.

The monarchy is gonna be fine, even if the current main line looks a bit dodgy. And they only have to limp through the next decade for Prince George to be positioned as the new Face for it too. Charles and Andy might look weak, but Anne and Edward are able to step in no problem as the Face of the franchise's current generation.

And if all else fails, [shudder], there are always the [sigh] Kents.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao at Meghan and Harry being "working royals." They're lazy grifters, which is why their stateside projects have failed one by one.

Ahahahaha. No.

No thanks, the Americans can keep them. No one in the UK wants them back.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-19 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure which side would be least disinterested in that, after everything they've put Meghan through especially.
