Hockey RPF is an unescapable beast if the writer history in fandom is anything to go by. Me and my fandom buddy were talking once about how almost every single fic-writer ends up in hockey RPF, or comes from hockey RPF, at some point and we couldn't understand it. xD

Must be something in it and once it hooks you, you're a goner.

I suppose. I'm into slash but not exclusively, so I don't know if there's a further step that pulls in the people who end up getting into hockey RPF.

I got into hockey rpf, and for me I think it's the ridiculously good writing.

You could prob go into any fic pairing and find well done fic for any type of relationship, dynamic etc. It's almost obscene how well done it is.

Combined with the fact it does well with college au's/frat boy/jock aesthetics— all very popular tropes to dabble in, it makes sense it's popular.

I'm not into hockey, but some writers I consider really good write it...so I read it.

I don't even know what the guys look like and sometimes it's better not to know. It's just fiction to me anyway.

OP That was the case in a previous fandom of mine, but currently it's all minecraft youtubers and K-Pop. And they're all babies, I'm not shipping real life babies!
