I can’t imagine disliking the neopronouns but still liking the kind of books written by the authors who use them.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-22 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a good point.

This is kind of a weird comment. What kind of books do you imagine them showing up in? In my experience its a lot of modern scifi.

I was expecting queer sci-fi romance. With aliens that aren’t love interests, I usually see “he” or “it.”

There is a lot of scifi out there that has neo pronouns that are not queer romances. Ive seen it popping up more in fantasy as well.

Becky Chambers A Psalm for the Wild Built is the first non-romance scifi that comes to mind.

Serious question, do you see the recs on social media or on a list somewhere? Just want an idea where to look because I tried looking on Goodreads and I might as well have asked a brick wall for recs.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen any recs, I just keep encountering it on my own with the books I read.

If you reddit, /booksuggestions and /suggestmeabook are pretty good places for specific asks!

*Searches*

“Hopepunk”

I don’t even have anything against neopronouns, but I stay far, far away from this Mr. Rogers shit. It’s arguably worse than “cozy horror.”

Funny, I've never heard of the trope! I don't generally get into genrefication. If its scifi or fantasy and something catches my eye in the description, I'll give it a go. Ill read other genres too, sff/f are just my main go tos.

So edgy! "Not my thing" would've done.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-23 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
There's nothing edgy about what they said.

(Anonymous) 2024-03-22 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
This is my thought exactly. It just seems to be spitefully petty for the sake of being spitefully petty. Kinda sad.
