They don't know OPs situation either, so to just blanket say it's not productive to take a positive stance with the information presented is kind of a jerk move.

A jerk move? Nah, just realistic. They were taking issue with the phrase "there is no too late." While it's certainly possible that it isn't too late for OP specifically, simply saying "there is no too late" does ignore situations where there are significant barriers to success.

For the record, I do think the original anon meant well. But sometimes you can mean well and not quite hit the mark.

The only "too late" is when you're dead. Just because you want to wallow and have excuses to never do anything doesn't mean you're right and that you should keep others down with you.
