(Anonymous) 2024-04-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)Your stance is the same as the former point you disagree with and where it came from, this is why parts of the internet think you must share the views of a villain you like or a show that's got morally dubious people in it, because of 'your fave is problematic'. I'll agree that toxic positivity is a thing and not helpful, but the response to it is not abashed negativity because that doesn't do anything good either.
You can recognise that something has flaws or faults without deeming it 'problematic' because regardless of what you think that word is synonymous with 'despicable' in current online culture, and frankly I have no time for either part of the 'you can't like bad things' 'acknowledge something you like has bad parts' online stances tbh.

(Anonymous) 2024-04-17 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)i think there's a difference between the attitude of "YOUR fave is problematic and let me randomly tell you, stranger, all about it" and the attitude of "MY fave is problematic, but thats ok because its a fictional character"

(Anonymous) 2024-04-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)like case in point telling the latter person "your fave is problematic" would have them just being like "yeah they are! they're also not a real person! nice chat w/e"
or "cool lets talk about it because Being Problematic is not the end of all discussion that you think it is, its also interesting *how* they are problematic or why they are compelling in spite of it"

(Anonymous) 2024-04-17 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)Literally the first paragraph of the secret, which is very 'let me tell you how bad your fave is, and you must listen to me' anon. It's not the OP talking about themselves, they're talking about others which is exactly the kind of behaviour that has led to fandom being how it currently is.
