I never saw a James Bond movie. I had always eyerolled at Connery Bond (because I grew up in the Brosnan Bond Era). Then I saw Connery Bond (I think it was Octopussy? Where he slaps the blonde woman by the poolside?), and I have to agree with you.

I didn't express myself well, lol. I had never seen a Bond movie (and thought Connery was overrated), until a few years ago I finally did watch a Bond movie, and it was his, and I found Connery attractive and felt he really personified Bond as Fleming imagined. And I am agreeing with OP, as much as I dislike both sexism and imperialism. Maybe I should try out Daniel Craig's Bond?

I do think the Craig Bond is worth watching! Although for my money, the Bond that comes closest to Fleming's Bond is Timothy Dalton.
