Lasik isn't magical, it's just expensive.

It also involves shooting lasers in your eyeballs which I personally think is cool but lots of people are squeamish about lol

I have pretty terrible eyesight (-7.5 for contacts, -8 for glasses) and it sounds so cool but my main fear is I would definitely need both eyes done at the same time, if something goes wrong that's IT I'm done for and I'm not even sure if they can correct my prescription/if it'll last. Even away from the scary "might melt my eyeballs" (hyperbole before anyone says) stuff - spending all that money and ending up back in glasses in a decade anyway just doesn't seem worth it.

Anyway, I find it interesting that whenever I go to the optician the majority of them are wearing glasses!

I was at -5ish, had it done once at 18, then another at 36 because I was hitting the -1.5/2ish mark where things were faintly blurry. Might need to again at 60 or something. Definitely lasts longer than 10 years

Only side effects for me is night light glare and slight dry-eye but I live in a dry area

SA

Oh yeah, also had both eyes done at once, both times. Recovery took about one day both times. Just gotta avoid rubbing hard after that

If I was an optometrist then I'd make sure to wear glasses too, and require my receptionist to also do so. Even if they and I didn't need them. It is just good business sense.

At least the last time I looked into it my pupils were too big. They said they could do it, but I wouldn't be able to drive at night.
