That's... a lot of research you've done to justify your outrage over one line.

But then, I guess that's par for the course in the Swiftverse. Love her or hate her, either way it ends in weirdly obsessive behaviour.

I mean, you have a point, but also, after the big public deal she made about being an ally and wanting to be more political etc, turning around and dating someone who (again, publicly) likes trump *is* a facepalm move

You're assuming he likes Trump based on a single tweet he liked? K.

I really don't care about this dude, but for the record, while he's thus far kept his political views private, he's spoken in support of BLM and took a knee in support of BLM during the national anthem, he's been in a Covid vaccine commercial, he endorsed Bud Light when conservatives were losing their shit and boycotting it, and he was in a satirical SNL skit called "straight male friend".

None of that is remotely conclusive of what his political views are, but it's still a hell of a lot more indicative than a single tweet he liked. FFS.

Nonono, you don't understand. You can make a lifetime of "correct" decisions and support all the "good" things but you like one bad tweet, do one dumb thing decades ago or be related to the wrong person (because kin liability is just SUCH fun) and that immediately negates EVERYTHING and for all eternity.

I don't think one questionable action negates everything you stand for, but it does, well, raise questions. At the minimum it's a yellow flag and I'd be a little more cautious around that person until they showed their true colors.

And I haven't heard people being attacked simply for being related to someone horrible; in fact, IME it's been the opposite, especially when it's a kid. The only time I've seen relatives being piled on is when they seem to be following in the same footsteps as the awful person, or seem to be greatly enabling the awful person's behavior (again, kids not included here). But that has nothing to do with being related, it has everything to do with supporting an awful person.

DA I kinda lean this way, too. But the context would matter. In this case, I don’t know any of the people or the tweet, so I don’t have an opinion about it. And if it’s just one like of one tweet that is the polar opposite of everything else known about that person, I tend to assume it was the result of sticky scrolling. It happens *shrug* I once laugh reacted a death announcement on Facebook because the app froze for half a second.
