If you're okay with genderbending and different sexual orientations in RPF, then why would making someone trans in RPF be more wrong? Just because someone writes something in a fic does not mean that they believe it to be true (I'm not sure even the tinhattiest of tinhatters generally believe that everything they write in a fic is true). A lot of times fic, especially RPF, is just an exploration of a what-if scenario.

Yeah, I find this line kind of weird. If you're writing RPF and it's not restricted to public and confirmed information (which is rarely is), you've already crossed the line into the "fiction" part of "real person fiction". Also, whatever line you're thinking of, J2 fic is likely to have crossed it a long, long time ago...
