I think the key point is the lying in an ostensibly adults-only space. There was a sense that you were an interloper in those spaces, so you tried to behave yourself and appear older than you were. Now, kids waltz in and go, "how dare you act like adults! I am a minor!"

Comment OP. This. We seem to have an anon here to who takes everything to the extreme literal edge. I wasn't suggesting that OP had to become their personal tutor, jesus fucking christ. It was a statement about how kids these days have no sense of internet safety and it's ruining everything. Back in my day kids lied about their age because it was cooler to appear older, it was an adult space and they didn't want to get kicked out, they were afraid of being stalked, etc etc. It made fandom run a lot smoother. Now they're coming into fandoms that have on-screen cannibalism and screaming about how the fandom isn't child safe. Shush, the adults are speaking.

Not being too literal. I mean sincerely that OP has no obligation to the child whatsoever, not even to tell them once not to give their age out. None! They don't have to interact at all if OP is uncomfortable with a child in their space! OP can ignore them completely to the extent they can

Still being too literal.
