Okay, this is not a knock to you, OP, but I do think that 11 is a little young for a lot of fandom. I'm just going to pretend that all you did at that point was read some gen fic, look at cute fanart, and talk to your friends about the media you liked.

Born in 2006 means OP is 17 or 18 now.

As for being on Wattpad in 2017, well that's in the past and there's no need to lecture them at this point.

ayrt

Yes, and 2017-2006 = 11, when they started in fandom.

OP here

I agree with you honestly, haha. I, like any curious kid just staring puberty, searched for some cringey poorly written smut on wattpad so I was exposed some stuff stuff I probably shouldn’t have been. Thankfully my mom made sure to teach me safe internet practices so nothing bad ever happened.

You seem like a sensible bean, op, it's good to have you here!
Oh 2006, I sure had fun back then..

I don't know about you, but I was sure reading smutty stuff in my parents' books and at the library when I was that age.

OP of Secret 1:

I was 11 when my parents got a computer and I read my first fanfic - shotacon noncon yaoi of Anubis from Ronin Warriors. I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS NOT CANON.

I started reading Highlander fic and Stargate and stumbled across slash and felt some kind of way about it but I was starting to learn that it was made up and started writing my own.

LJ didn't even exist yet. Yahoo was just coming into being. We had dialup. and a printer. then I discovered BBS Boards and started interacting with other people. never told a soul my age until I was in high school.

I did not cyber but I was reading and looking at porn from like day one, rip. oh how the turns table...

? a lot of people, especially younger millenials, had the same experience as OP. I myself started browsing fandom and reading NC-17 fanfiction at 11-12. We turned out fine.
