If you had the time to make a secret, you could've had the time to read a bit further and give it an honest chance. There are like 25+ volumes out now, so it's really kind of dumb to get so worked up over the initial first few chapters.

Speaking as someone who utterly loves the manga, I can't help but take offense at your name-calling. If it doesn't work for you, fine; everyone has different tastes and yadda yadda -- but don't sit there and be an ignorant jackass about it. Especially the comment about Gantz not having any decent female characters...!

And I take it you've never seen any women with naturally large breasts? But hey, thanks a lot for calling us "retarded-looking".

I think the OP was referring to having an overwhelming majority of female characters with enormous breasts. It's like you wouldn't complain about one fashion-obsessed, supergirly female character, because such people do exist and they can be awesome, but if all the female characters (or most of them) follow that mold, there's a problem.

Of course, I haven't read the manga under discussion, so I can't say anything specific. But these generalities hold true.

Oh yes, I understand what you mean. I'm somewhat desensitized to this particular instance myself, as the majority of girls where I grew up were well-endowed -- so that's what I'd always see in the locker room and so forth. However, I will say this when it comes to the females in Gantz:

Some of the girls have big breasts, but it's done for a reason. The main character in the manga starts off as a shallow and selfish ass. He basically thinks with his dick when it comes to women. But as the series progresses, he grows up. He starts caring about other people, becomes a good leader, and realizes that looks isn't everything. He even ends up falling in love -- true, would-die-for-you type of love -- with the most plain-looking (and flat-chested) girl imaginable. So all those big-breasted girls he'd fawned over previously are kind of intended to be a contrast, y'know? But that's not to say that they are mindless bimbos who're just around for the sake of their chests, far from it! And really, the percentage of well-endowed females is actually pretty small -- they're mainly found in the pinup illustration that starts off each chapter, and that has to do with the magazine that the manga is serialized in.

It just rubs me the wrong way when people call stuff like that "retarded-looking" or unrealistic or whatever. Having grown up around a bunch of big-breasted girls -- naturally so, i.e. not perfectly shaped silicone -- I'd like to say otherwise.

If the manga didn't capture their interest in the first few pages, why on Earth would they torture themselves to continue 'trying to give it a chance?' their time is not for you to decide how to spend it.

they don't owe anyone anything. if they miss out on something great because they couldn't get past the first few pages/chapters/manga that's not for you to decide. they feel their time is best spent elsewhere.

READ MY WHOLE REPLY. I couldn't care less if they give up on something after just a few pages; what bothered me was that they sat down and made a secret, while acting like they knew precisely what they were talking about.

Way to mis-read the secret. I was referring to the vacant expression on the character's face. If everything in this chapter was the same but she had A-cup tits, it would have still pissed me off.

Riiiiiight. Your secret didn't even remotely refer to her "vacant expression" -- and really, considering that she'd just attempted suicide, I fail to see why you were expecting her to be a ball of energy.

At least have the guts to stand up for your secret, man. Don't try to come up with some lame excuses and the whole "oh but that's not what I said" crap.
