Flip phones weren't really a thing until 00s though? They were still the main kind of phone until like 2011 in America and 2014 in Asia. They’re also still very popular in Asia and becoming popular again in America. They’ve never gone out of production; in America, phone providers have to provide and maintain a network that basic phones can operate on and sell at least two models.
