Paying and landlord and paying a bank create very different situations. I rent and I cant do anything to the house ornyarf without landlord approval, and any improvements or changes will only end up earning the landlord money by increasing the value of the house. If I owned I can have pets I want, paint the house if I want, add a shed, a garden, knock out a wall, update the appliances, etc etc etc. There is a vast difference between the two.

Sure, but if you have no interest in doing those things, there isn't a difference.

No, the difference still exists. Your lack of interest doesn't change reality. You having no interest in owning a house =/= owning and renting are the same thing.

I never said renting and owning are the same thing. I said that TO ME, since I am not interested in those things, the only difference FOR ME, is who you are paying, a landlord or a bank. That is true whether you agree with me or not.
