Question

[personal profile] philstar22 2024-05-20 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Do I need to have seen Fury Road to understand Furiosa? I have read the plot and know the lore, but never actually seen the movie. Honestly I really only want to watch to see Hemsworth as a villain.

It'd certainly help.

I know that. Just not sure I'm interested.

I'm sure you'd miss a few things but I don't think overall its a big deal.

You can probably skip it (it is a prequel) but you'd be missing out on the best action movie in like 20 years.

Re: Question

(Anonymous) 2024-05-21 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Slight exaggerating there. It was an okay movie, not the best ever.

Re: Question

Critics and audiences say otherwise. But what do you think are the best action movies of the past 20 years?

DA/NAYRT

I wholeheartedly disagree.

Re: Question

(Anonymous) 2024-05-21 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
With the new movie being a prequel, you'll probably be fine.

Re: Question

(Anonymous) 2024-05-21 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Doubtful, but you should watch Fury Road for itself, it's really good.

Re: Question

I'm going to say yes, and the answer to this question about prequels/sequels is almost always yes. I've sat lost and confused through one too many movies with friends who swore I didn't need to have seen the other installments. It's an easy trap to put yourself in a newbie's shoes and think "Oh yeah I could understand this" when you're still subconsciously using your knowledge of the other installments to understand things you otherwise wouldn't.

I mean, it's amazing so you probably should just for that.

But it'd make just as much sense to watch it after I guess.

Honestly that's probably the way I'll go. If I enjoy it beyond just the pretty people, then I'll go and watch the other one.
