Grief (TW: Animal Death)

(Anonymous) 2024-05-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I messaged on here the other week about my 16 year old girlie who was having to be syringe-fed and was a huge baby doll about it. She passed away this morning in her sleep after battling cancer and kidney failure for three weeks. It was fast but I knew she was going last night and wouldn't make it. I kissed her and held her and said my goodbyes.

It's never enough time. Sixteen years was not enough time for me. I don't know how to be without her after all this time and I'm just lost. I've been crying all day and I had an appointment with my therapist today. My mom wants me to jump into getting a new cat as soon as possible since my emotional state is/was often linked to my affection with my girl.

She was my whole world and it's much darker now without her in it.

Oh, no. I'm so sorry for your loss. Pets are part of the family and saying goodbye to them is always so difficult.

It never, ever feels like enough time, but you gave her a full, long, happy life where she was cared for. You comforted her in her last moments, and she would have felt safe and content. She was very lucky to have such a loving human.

Sending you all the hugs. Please be kind to yourself going forward and take some time to process. <3

My baby girl had liver failure and I chose to put her down rather than make her suffer. I held her paw as she passed. Nothing hurt more than going to work the next day and having to greet customers while my heart was breaking (my boss at the time noticed this and asked me what was wrong, I explained, she let me go to the back for a few hours to sort clothes).

October of 2008 was probably the worst time of my life other than the bullying in hs, as we had put down our dog the month earlier.

February 2009 I said to my mother "I can't live without an animal in the house". I went to the cat shelter with no intention that day and bought a kitten home. He's been with me for the last 14 years ever since.

All this to say, it's going to get better, anon, just take your time 💜

I'm sorry for your loss. Went through this in November 2021. The grief was intense for about a week. Looking at photos and videos helped me. There is life after pet loss, even though it doesn't feel like it now.

I'm so, so sorry. She was clearly so well loved, and I'm sure she knew it. You did the very best for her, and she felt safe and happy with her human. Please take time to take care of yourself and let yourself grieve. Do what you need to for you. Be kind to yourself. You've lost a family member, a part of yourself. It is going to to take time.

I'm sorry, sorry, sorry for your loss. It's so hard when they go. We never have enough time with them

Don't get another pet until you're ready. You'll know when the time comes.

Love to you, anon.
