Re: Conventions?

When I'm outside of the US, I go to anime-themed cons sometimes. Especially in South America. The pricing sucks a lot less and the cosplayers and singers put their heart into it in a way that makes me feel very fond of everyone I meet, practically. I don't go when I'm stateside because I've never wanted to. What I've heard about them from people who do go made them seem like soulless gimmicks for herding people in the direction of merchandise. And on top of that, being around large crowds wears me out.

The one thing about cons that I wish I could interact with, from the comfort of my computer, is the vidding scene. I'd love to see what people are showing off ... maybe a couple of months after they present it. But if it's put up anywhere online, I don't know where to find that. There's the Dreamwidth comm for vidding and - ?
