What fandom do you wish you had quit sooner?

I stuck with Teen Wolf way too long. It was never going to get better, but something about that show/fandom hooked into me and it was hard to give up on it.

I give up on the media but I never give up on fandoms. I always go checking back.

THIS. JESUS CHRIST.

Probably all of them

I stay in a fandom until I am filled with frustration and hate and ride the flaming pile of trash into the ground.

Obviously not all of them, but it is a pattern with me. I'm working on it.

Are you me? Same, unfortunately.

I don't usually leave fandoms entirely. I tend to come back to most of them every so often.

However, if this was a question about what fandoms do I wish I had never gotten into in the first place - for me it would definitely be Hetalia -_-

Harry Potter. Star Wars (I still love, but the fandom is beyond toxic).

Game of Thrones. Not A Song of Ice and Fire, but Game of Thrones. I don't know what about the TV show just brought out the most toxic of fans, but I wish I hadn't stuck around. It just seemed like if they couldn't talk about how much they hated everything, they would have nothing to say. I wish I'd bailed long before the final season.

Harry Potter for sure. I mean obviously I got off that ride when jkr went mask off, but like...

Some of it on a re-read was just BAD. And I don't mean the antisemitic goblins, racist bits, schroedinger's gay dumbledore, or the weird vacillating on whether or not slavery is cool, I just mean... some of the writing was bad! Things that I wasn't paying too much attention to on a first read when I wanted to see what would happen next I went back to and realized were not thought out, and felt completely divorced from everything we knew of the characters previously. NONE of it was so amazing and original, either. A lot of the things especially that American readers found original were just British school novel standard stuff, but with magic-- and that's been done before. It just happened to be in the right place at the right time to get big.

(the less said about how much her stuff written for adults sucks, the better)
