Harry Potter for sure. I mean obviously I got off that ride when jkr went mask off, but like...

Some of it on a re-read was just BAD. And I don't mean the antisemitic goblins, racist bits, schroedinger's gay dumbledore, or the weird vacillating on whether or not slavery is cool, I just mean... some of the writing was bad! Things that I wasn't paying too much attention to on a first read when I wanted to see what would happen next I went back to and realized were not thought out, and felt completely divorced from everything we knew of the characters previously. NONE of it was so amazing and original, either. A lot of the things especially that American readers found original were just British school novel standard stuff, but with magic-- and that's been done before. It just happened to be in the right place at the right time to get big.

(the less said about how much her stuff written for adults sucks, the better)
