the appeal of ABO is the appeal of those Dom/Sub universes which preceded it (and to some extent the hetero vampire or werewolf romance novels that were popular in the late 90s and early 00s which preceded even them and heralded dark erotica being way more commonplace): conventional relationships with conventional social roles with conventional ideas of what those roles imply about biology with conventional markers of social success but forced and where being gay is baked into the conventionality, but with little to no actual specificity, so then, you know, you can spin off literally wherever you want from there. i would bet that wraeththu being from a book series is too specific, since it has its own canon. but imagine eventually you will see crossovers if its fairly popular.
