I've never seen people wishing for ff.net to fail, but I do see a lot of people talking about what a shit site it is. I've always assumed that was more "I wish they'd improve" not "I wish they'd fail."

Weirdly enough, in the past few years while there has been an uprising of people hating on ao3 for dumb reasons, I don't see the same thing for ff.net at all.

Yeah-- I'm an AO3 person all the way for a LOT of reasons, but when I'm looking up older fandom stuff, I DO go to ff.net in hopes of finding stuff that never made it over! I don't want ff.net to go away, before AO3 I spent many fond hours there.

But damn if I wish it was a more usable website without a history of purges.

100% this is my experience also, and I've been out there reading fic on ff.net and then AO3 since 2010.
