How do you feel about fandom drama?

I ignore it for fandoms I am in but love watching train wrecks in fandoms I am not.

It depends. Sometimes if I'm in the fandom I find the drama so ridiculous I can't help but look and laugh at it, other times I'm so annoyed by it I avoid and block it.

For fandoms I'm not in I do find the drama super fun to go poke around in because when I have no emotional investment it's entertaining as hell.

I'm like the guy vacuuming his front lawn to hear what's going down. I love fandom drama, especially when I'm in the fandom since I have more access to the juicy details.

When I was younger, I lived for the debates. Now I find drama exhausting. I've left some fandoms just because they've become so toxic. I still love Star Wars and Doctor Who, but the fandoms are terrible.

It helps that I've now seen what a healthy fandom looks like.

Honestly, the only time I'm bothered by it is if I disagree with the prevailing opinion on whatever the issue is. The rest of the time, whether I agree with the prevailing opinion or there is no prevailing opinion or I don't care that much one way or the other, then I'm just hanging out eating popcorn.

It makes me feel old and tired, because it's the same basic stuff cycling through each generation and fandom.

I am totally oblivious to anything unless it gets mentioned on r/HobbyDrama

Sometimes it's intriguing, sometimes it's just baffling.

I'm thankful that the way I engage with fandom (reading fic and occasional essays) allows me to distance myself from almost all the impassioned drama.

I usually block and report if it's on tumblr. I don't generally care for it but if it's clogging up the character/series tag, I usually don't want to see it, so block and report.

Most times I prefer to watch from a distance. Depending on the topic, I can be interested in hearing other fandom's drama.

The fun/interest tends to lack a lot more if I'm in the fandom.

Most times I prefer for someone to tell me the deets rather than I having to go do my own research (though the random "oops deep dive rabbit hole" solo researches can be engrossing).
