Oof that's tricky. I'd want to forgive, because technically they undid it and they wholeheartedly regretted it and believe it was a mistake. But emotionally I think I'd be wondering if they would ever be tempted to make the same type of emotional 'mistake' again in the future because now it's been shown that that's the kind of person they are.

But I really want to be someone who believes in forgiveness and that people can change. I think it would wholly depend on my emotional attachment to this person and what exactly they did.

When you do something wrong, do you tend to repeat it in the future, no matter how much you regret it and understand that it was wrong?

Not me, but I know (and have dated) people who do. They are 100% sorry and regretful, but then they do it all again eventually.
