OP, I’m sorry you went through this, and I’m glad you’re in a better place in your life. If you ever fall into despair, know that there is a stranger on the internet who loves you and wants nothing but the best for you. I don’t know how much it helps people—-telling them that a random person they’ll never meet, loves them—-but I do it regardless. Even if it only helps one person…

Aw, you're sweet. Reminds me of a time I was talking on the internet about wanting to kill myself and some random stranger messaged me to check on me and offer resources and a listening ear. I don't remember their username or anything but I still remember them and think about them fondly sometimes. (Don't worry, I'm doing much better now! My life/job situation has stabilized, I have beloved family members nearby to support me, and I'm on medication for depression. Life really does get better sometimes, as it turns out.)
