IDK, I'm sorry nonnie, but I would feel like this was.... missing the point a bit?

(Anonymous) 2024-06-18 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
How so?

IDK I think it would kind of feel to me like the takeaway from that is that they DID have to make it to a Galaxy-class ship for their careers and lives and stuff to be worth it? And I feel like the point has been that the relationships they have, their abilities and careers, their work HAVE been worthwhile on their own merits even without being on a Galaxy.

IDK, IDK.

But they, or at least Mariner and Boimler, want to be on a top of the line ship like a Galaxy or a Sovereign class. That is where they want their careers to take them. Tendi too, maybe, the only one whose career desires are a bit fuzzier are T'Lynn and Rutherford.

But like... Part of the point to me is generally that those desires are not necessarily well founded or correct.

Boimler maybe did, but he sure didn't like being on the Titan (especially as his transporter clone then died). It's the exact opposite of what Mariner has wanted, even if she's starting to come around on that.
