I can't trace my kinks back to a source (I think the source is just my brain), but I can trace back patterns allll the way back to when I was very very young. Obviously they weren't really "kinks" then, but the patterns of favorite characters and tropes I clung to were there and really obvious looking back.

One of mine actually goes back to a specific fic I read when I was perhaps too young to be on the internet, heh. (I don't THINK it was kink fic? It wasn't technically NSFW if it was, and the scene was not graphic.) Honestly I would've probably had that kink regardless, but the particular shape it takes for me is absolutely heavily patterned by this random throwaway detail.

I have tried futilely to find the fic again and failed. I can't even find the fansite it was hosted on, because the one that matches my memory of the layout doesn't even have a fanfic section...

When I was in grade school, I was given a big volume of collected Golden Age Wonder Woman stories. I think a lot of them were written by the original writer. A lot of my kinks were formed by it.

You know the part of The Great Mouse Detective when they're tied up in the death trap? That probably had an Effect on me.

That, The Pit and the Pendulum, and the Noyes poem The Highwayman. I'm sure there have probably also been some cartoons with girls tied to railroad tracks or logs going through sawmills. Like it's not enough that it be bondage, it's SPECIFICALLY being bound in a situation where you'll die-- or in the case of the Highwayman, she kills herself to save her lover, but like, being tied up and straining to reach the trigger was a huge part of it.

Obviously in real life I don't require a deathtrap or train tracks or what have you, but when it came to the fiction I consumed, regular getting-tied-up didn't COMPEL me, there had to be that anguish and fear of death.

I'm not the sort of person who hates thinking about this stuff, either. I'm a total navel-gazer. I like thinking about the what, where, when, and why of stuff like this. But when it comes to kinks, it honestly feels like they were always there and I just had to uncover them.

If cars just suddenly stopped working and couldn't be fixed, how inconvenienced would your life be?

Let's say for fun trains are still going. But no bus or car or taxi etc.

My commute for work is a 15min bike ride so that would be okay, but there is not really a grocery story or anything like that nearby. According to googlemaps it's about a 2-3hr walk there. Which would suck to then only buy what I could carry and what would survive a 2-3hr walk back. There are no trains here.
