I used to think that this comms problem with Reddit was for exactly that reason but I’ve brought it up multiple times here and always it’s younger FSers who hate Reddit and are unaware of the old stereotype. We have several older users who love Reddit including named users, so I really don’t get it.

My town subreddit is a ghost town :( but the sub for the greater metropolitan area that eclipses us is wonderful! I’m always finding new places to go and things to do. It’s never been so easy to support local businesses or learn about community parks and events. We have literally dozens of natural beauty spots in the immediate area and only maybe 5-6 ever turn up in google results.

Some user on my local sub just randomly started a Weekend Events thread every Thursday and there are so many events going on I never would have known about. Its been so fun to get out and about on the weeke ds now.

Thats really interesting about the demographics. Maybe reddit is like the facebook of a generation? Younger people think its where old boring cringey people go to yell at each other. Or maybe its just a FS thing. Idk!

I'm an older user but my fandoms tend to skew dudebro so it's hard to find good comms on Reddit, and my local subreddit is run by a 5G conspiracy theorist and his buddies. There are good comms, you just have to get lucky with your fandom/interest.
