Does anyone know of any good fics that mix EU and canon? Like sequel characters but EU storyline, or EU characters in the sequel storylines, or whatever. Just a mix of both.

Doesn't have to be sequel/post ROTJ era either. Would be happy with stuff set during OT or before too.

Does this really count as fandom?

What is/isn't appropriate/acceptable in RPF?

So, my friend sent me her most recent fic to get my opinion of it, and I'm not sure how to tell her I found it disturbing. It's RPF for a small, pretty obscure fandom so I want to be vague here...let's say the couples are A/B and C/D. In her fic, she breaks up A and B and has D die so that A and C can get together and raise C&D's kid together because, in her opinion, "A would make a better parent than D". If it was fictional, I would probably think it was lazy writing, but whatever, I don't care.

But these are real people, and all I can imagine is her posting it somewhere and D either coming across it or someone sending it to them and them having to read about them dying so their spouse can get together with their coworker to raise their kid because said coworker would be a better parent to their kid than D and it makes me feel awful for them.

And here's where I'm maybe a hypocrite...I DO think A and C would make a great couple if things were different and they were both single. And I'm not necessarily even opposed to RPF. I would happily read a fic where either the partners never existed or they broke up and then A/C got together. But killing off one of the partners and bringing the kid into it is just...icky to me.

Am I overreacting? Should I tell her it makes me uncomfortable or keep my mouth shut? This would be the first fic posted for the fandom so I feel like it kind of sets the tone and it's not necessarily the right one to set? And then I feel like I'm being uptight and think "it's not that deep, who cares?" but then I think of poor D coming across this and being hurt by it. Or, hell, I'm sure A, B and C would probably find it weird and creepy, too. But I'm sure actors/celebrities/public figures always find it weird and creepy if they come across RPF involving them so maybe this isn't all different. But killing off a RL partner and specifically writing a real kid into it seems extra creepy to me...I don't know, I'm not sure if I'm even making sense.

Anyway, what do you all think?

I just think most Youtuber merch is really fucking ugly so I've never wanted to buy it. There might be some out there who can design a nice looking shirt or something, but for the most part it's just their channel name/logo slapped on a shirt and it looks hideous or really awkward out of context.

I think if it makes you uncomfortable, you should say that it's not something you want to read. Just don't get all anti about it. Your friend isn't doing anything creepy or wrong by writing it.
