IMO Rob Pattinson is a good actor and he's probably a decent person overall. With that said, I've never liked how overtly contemptuous he was of Twilight while starring in the movies. Was the series badly written fluff? IMO yes. But there's no shame in enjoying badly written fluff; it doesn't make you stupid or vapid if you enjoy badly written fluff. And Rob Pattinson was SO overtly contemptuous of the series that it kind of bled over into feeling like he was judgmental of the fans for liking it. And IMO that's a pretty insensitive attitude to have as someone who has willfully sought out a lead role in the property. Like dude, if you're not too good to act in it, the least you can do is not make the fans (many of whom are young and idolize you) feel stupid for caring about it.

I mean, his attitude was very in-keeping with the prevailing cultural attitude of the time, and he was also only in his early-mid 20s at the time (i.e. still kind of immature), so I don't really feel that the Rob Pattinson of today should be judged by his "OMG it's so ridiculous that people eat up this stupid trash" attitude from a decade and a half ago. But at the time I did think less of him for it, even as someone who wasn't all that into the Twilight phenomenon myself.

Same. I don't blame him for his opinion at the time, but those kids were the reason he was getting a big fat paycheck for those movies. And I don't think his agent forced him to take in the part. The bare minimum he could have done was act professionally. He's an actor, so that shouldn't be too hard.

People paid far less, in retail for example, manage to put on a smile and be gracious to the public every damn day of the week for twelve/fourteen hour shifts. If they can manage it, actors can plaster on a smile for two damn minutes.
