not OP but I’d assume it’s because of the general idea that anyone who hates TROS hates all new Star Wars and is a Bad Fan who’s too selective.

Hmmm. I haven't heard that very often, but I'm sure it happens. I more often hear that if you like TLJ, you're a bad fan, though.

It definitely happens more with TLJ! But if you hated TROS you’re even worse because you only hated it because of how much you hated TLJ. At least that’s the attitude I’ve run into in general pop culture spaces.

I'm sorry. Personally TROS is the only SW movie I don't like. I don't hate it per say, there were some good scenes. But overall I just don't like it. TLJ was my favorite of the new trilogy, though.

Because screw the trad fans and their dumb fun and optimism, right? That is the TLJ message.

No it isn't, but okay.

That was what the director claimed, thT was the TLJ fandom rallying cry in response to criticism, that and calling all critics racist and sexist. Pick your side.

You should plant corn so your strawmen have something to do.

DA

Off topic, but I want this on a bumper sticker.

I loved the OT and enjoyed the prequels, and still loved TLJ. I also thought TLJ was plenty optimistic, much more so than the prequel trilogy. Yes, Luke dies, but his death had a positive impact on the universe, and I thought the message of learning from our failures and mistakes was a good one.

This. And that ending scene was explicitly hopeful and about hope. So arguing it wasn't hopeful is absurd.

Five thousands times this.
