Wouldn't a detailed account of the event spoil an important plot point that is not in the books yet?

Yup. Whether or not a certain plot point from the tv show is actually how things will play out in the books, confirming one way or another would spoil things.

That was my thought as well. Giving details might spoil something GRRM intends to reveal in TWOW or A Dream of Spring. (I'm not holding my breath on ever seeing either of those, though.)

Eh, maybe. But at this point, spoiling a book that might not ever be published seems like not that big of a deal!
