It doesn't have to go that far, but I've definitely seen situations where a particular headcanon gets really popular and then people who don't subscribe to it are treated like they're Doing It Wrong, which is pretty silly. It's just that when it comes to trans headcanons, emotions are running pretty damn high and it's easy to go ohhhh, you don't share this headcanon? Transphobe! because people are either being jerks or so invested that not sharing their headcanon feels like a personal attack to them. It's not rational, but it's totally fandom.
