Imgur won't let me link directly to the image. I click on a link ending in .jpg and at first it takes me to the picture but then it reroutes to the picture's posting page. I'm not doing anything other than I usueally do.

Is it possible to do something about the resident troll? The one who is pretending they were told to off themselves just a week or so after actually telling someone to do that? Their trolling started slow but it’s been dragging on for months and it’s every day in multiple threads now. There is no way to avoid them so I’m wondering if it’s possible for you to block their IP address or something.

The men's clothes look rather dull compared to the women's in this show. It's not like they have to also look like glittery parrots, but I miss seeing rich fabrics* and decent tailoring in period pieces.

re the inaccuracy, the people making the show have always said that they aren't even trying to be completely historically inaccurate. The clothes are inspired by regency era and have elements of that, but they lean into the "romantic fantasy" of the show and elevate the clothing to make the scenes more romantic or dramatic.

I have noticed on occasion that some of the outfits look very department store quality over haute couture fashion, but its not something I am looking hard at.

I can give the quality a pass, because they're clearly going for "inspired by" and at this point the egregious choices are part of the quirk.

However, what gets me is the corsets. Not for the Tightlacing Trope, but for the fact that they're using corsets that don't make sense for the fashion! Why are you using corsets that pull in at the natural waist when the Regency waistline, the very gowns you're using, is just under the boobs?! You could still have your Tightlacing Trope with Regency-era stays (and it would be even more obviously farcical then!)

To be perfectly fair, I think there were some dandies of the time that would totally go for that kind of thing, especially if it were pink and lime green striped.

Yeah. I want to believe people are just enjoying their headcanons and AUs or whatever, but I've seen way too many people being called transphobic for daring to write the canonically cis version of a character popularly fanon'd as trans, or ableist for daring to headcanon X character's behaviour as something other than *insert very specific fandom-designated diagnoses here*.

Fandom has become ridiculously possessive of their collective headcanons in recent years, and IMHO, this is just the natural combination of that and the increasinglt attitude of "anyone who doesn't actively endorse and support Thing in every single post they make, relevant or not, is clearly anti-Thing and must be shunned, hounded, and doxxed until they change their evil ways".

Unless the "trans headcanon" folks are requesting that you don't write any headcanon that's inconsistent with the popular headcanon, I don't see how you're being asked to leave any sandbox. Or is this a preemptive decision based on a past bad experience?

I know nothing of House of the Dragon, but I had to google the relationship between these characters because they looked like siblings. Finding out they're siblings (and married but that's irrelevant here) BUT the actors aren't related, my hat comes off to both the casting and makeup departments.

I think you're onto something here, anon.

I for sure know that when I'm up at 2 AM bored and looking for something to do, find a fic with my favorite pairing in it and read it to the end just to see what happens and how the author resolves this rambling plot even though it is pretty OOC, and don't leave a comment because I don't have anything particularly nice to say... right then, without fail, I suddenly have a random, seething hatred for Author's Notes, which may or may not even have appeared in the fic.

Everyone else too, right? That's how it works?
