Bonus points if it's something recent.

The movie The Fifth Element.

I love that this is the first answer because YES.

honestly I'm of the opinion that a large chunk of the reason the film became/remained a cult classic for so long was because cosplayers at bigger scifi cons kept it alive. There was a huge crowdsourcing movement in the late 00s to get accurate Mangalore costumes going, well before we finally had the resources to accurately do the Diva.

I mean the movie also slaps on its own, and has held up remarkably well.

I will stan The Fifth Element to my dying day (even though creepy!Korbin Dallas sometimes gives me the ick, but Leeloo put him in his place enough times to satisfy me)

The Nevers didn't get any traction but the costumes were fantastic.

Lord of the Rings. And while Rings of Power has a lot of issues, the costuming isn't one of those. Looks gorgeous.

Maria Bjornson's costumes for The Phantom of the Opera are what got me into costuming. Also everything with costumes by Eiko Ishioka or Colleen Atwood.

I really like the textural layered quality of their work.

I don't know that I'll ever watch the Wheel of Time show, but the costumes beat the ones from, say, Amazon's Rings of Power all hollow on a fraction of the budget.

If you want period drama, Gentleman Jack has amazing historically accurate costumes AND interpretation in the wardrobe for Anne Lister given that she dresses in a more masculine way while still wearing skirts.

Feels a bit weird nominating a band, but Ghost (fka Ghost BC in the US)...mostly since Meliora when the Ghoul costumes got more involved than a robe and off the shelf bauta mask, and Papa got more costumes than just his vestments.

(To be a little less weird, they did recently release a movie (part concert film part fiction), which show off the most recent Ghoul costumes, and all the variety of Papa IV's wardrobe. The Ghouls, particularly (minus the masks, which are only my third favourite variation) are gorgeous.)

I kept watching Game of Thrones much longer than I should have because I enjoyed the costumes. Though I heard that they got much crappier in the last few seasons.

For a modern show, Hannibal does great storytelling through costume.

I was just remembering The Magicians, specifically because of Margot’s gorgeous eyepatches. If I ever lose an eye, I’m going full glam like her.

The Borgias also had some beautiful gowns, robes, suits, and hair.
