Most of the fandom I'm in HCs my fave as trans, and that's fine. Most fans including me enjoy both trans and cis versions of the character. And those who don't like both generally read/draw/discuss only their preferred version without being weird about any other version. Except sometimes there will be vagueposts like "jumpscared by cis [character]" and that is kind of frustrating as someone who writes him as cis. I think it comes across as rude to imply that fanworks that don't share your HC is that jarring, even in a joking way.
