Same! My last concert was The Rolling Stones and in order to justify the £500 price per ticket, Keith’s solo in Sympathy was like 10 minutes of random guitar noise. That sort of thing is really common and I don’t enjoy it. I also don’t enjoy hearing changes to the arrangement, melody, or timing. It throws me off every time.

This is also why I generally prefer whatever version I hear of a song first even if it’s a cover.

Same, but I wouldn't mind if someone recorded a unique 10 minute solo and I could listen to it repeatedly to fully enjoy it. That's what gets lost to me in live events. It's not that I don't want to enjoy the music, it's that I do want to enjoy the music, at my own time and pace.

Some of my favorite versions of songs are [Live Recording] of [Song] by [Artist] at [Event Venue] at [Specific Date]... but I wouldn't have enjoyed being there in person.

We're still trying to leave a better world behind for Keith Richards!

Hard same. And I'm never a fan of recorded live versions either.

there's some live versions of songs i really love, especially if they're what i heard before they were released as records, but i've never thought my experience would improve by hearing it live. if i'm going to a concert, it's probably for my friends, not the music.

Depends on the band and the genre imo

Jam bands are ten hundred percent better live and I mostly only have live recordings of their music.

BNL has some really fun live recordings.

My fave traditional Irish music is often better live, where they keep in the stories and banter between songs. Plus they just have better energy played in front of a live audience.

But other than that yeah, I enjoy the concert as an experience but generally like the clean recorded versions of songs better.

Concerts and albums are different beasts and must be approached accordingly.

I love live music -- when I'm there to experience it. There's a particular kind of energy threading through a good concert that can't be captured on a recording (but can, sometimes, be captured on video! You've gotta watch a concert; you can't just listen to it). I don't want to listen to the live version of a song on a device. If I can't be there, feeling and seeing as much as listening, then I want the studio version.

I don't enjoy concerts at all (too loud and too many people too close together), but I occasionally like the recorded live version of a song better than the studio version - not often, but sometimes. Those few that I do like just seem to have more energy or heart to them.

Dunno. Depends on the style.
Some things better in albums, some things better live.
I haven't been in a concert in forever though because of a lot of factors.

If I'm not part of the audience making the ruckus during a live performance, I do not enjoy live performance recordings. I have auditory processing and sensitivity issues and I usually vastly prefer/can only tolerate the studio recorded version.
