Just read a fic where someone referred to a green eyed person as the "forestiel eyed".

TIL forestial is a word but goddamn, that is a pretty ridiculous term to describe eyes.

I was in anime fandoms and saw some doozies. ("The pinkette," etc.) My biggest fandom was Bleach. Poor Rukia might as well not have had a canon name, she was referred to as "the petite shinigami" so often. But the worst one was when I saw Ukitake described as "the pale-haired twin sword wielder."

STOP.

Lately I'm seeing people drop the noun from their epithets so you get stuff like, "said the red hair."

The word 'redhead' is right THERE!

I normally don't see ones that are so terrible on their own, just the issue of it being WEIRD when you're in someone's POV and they think of a long-term friend or partner as 'the brunet(te)' or 'the blue-eyed man/woman'.

I also had one fandom where I'd frequently see 'the older boy' and 'the taller man' when the characters have an age difference of one year and a height difference of MAYBE two inches.

Not bad epithets per se. But I just read "the dark haired man" and "the older man" in one fic. This guys are both dark haired (in slightly different way) and they have age difference like couple of months. How this epithets even helping?!

Also I am never going to be over money-green eyes in Dresden. That's published books ffs

I still can't get over the one Weiss Kreuz fic I read years ago about all three assassin teams working together - twelve assassins in a room together! - that regularly used just "the assassin" as the epithet.
